About FPInk

FPInk captures handwritten fountain-pen notes and turns them into searchable text, while keeping the original ink colour information alongside each note.

Recognition runs entirely on-device with two bundled strategies: Cursive (the default) for handwriting and Printed for printed text. Pick the default in Settings, or choose per photo when using the camera. It currently requires an ARM64 device. Optional cloud-based recognition services may be available in privately built variants of this app, but they are never enabled in this build and would require explicit selection before ever being used.

After a photo is recognized, FPInk opens a review screen listing every generated paragraph as a separate note. Correct any transcription in place, then save the changes; leaving the screen with unsaved corrections asks for confirmation first, and declining to save keeps the notes you already captured.

From the notes list you can press and hold a note to start selecting, tap rows or checkboxes to change the selection, or use "Select all" to include every note, even ones off screen. Choose "Delete selected" and confirm once to permanently remove the selection; a shared source photo is kept until every note that uses it has been deleted.

FPInk's original source code is licensed under the GNU General Public License, version 3 only (GPL-3.0-only). Third-party dependencies and bundled assets retain their own licenses.

What's new in 0.1.0

First stable release, now on F-Droid. When on-device recognition can't run on your device, for example through an ARM translation layer, Add notes now explains why and disables Take photo before you capture, instead of failing afterwards.
