OctoLab requests the "install packages" permission solely to let you install release APKs you choose to download from a project's Releases page within the app — it is never used automatically or in the background.

OctoLab began as a GitLab-focused fork of Octodroid (gh4a), an open-source GitHub client, and is maintained by SecNinjaz.

How to install OctoLab

  1. Tap Download — the app's official page on F-Droid opens.
  2. Install it with the F-Droid app (recommended, for automatic updates), or use the download button on that page.
  3. If Android asks, allow the F-Droid app or your browser to install apps, then tap Install.
  4. Open OctoLab from your app drawer.
