About Where It Went
Where It Went is a simple, opinionated expense tracker that does one thing well — tells you where your money went.
Unlike most financial apps, it deliberately excludes income tracking. Your bank handles that. This app focuses entirely on spending.
Two separate modules keep your numbers honest:
Daily Living tracks recurring household expenses — groceries, rent, utilities, transport. Categories are tagged as Fixed, Necessity, or Discretionary, giving you a clear picture of your spending profile each month.
Accounts tracks one-off budget envelopes — home renovations, travel, projects. These are kept completely separate so they never skew your monthly Daily Living totals.
Features:
- Quick expense entry with category tags
- View spending by Month, Date, or Category
- Distribution pie chart across Fixed, Necessity and Discretionary
- Yearly Summary: category totals for each 12-month year, with export
- Full backup and restore, plus import of CSV exports
- Travel accounts in any of 92 currencies, with suggested rates and whole-number conversions
- Travel mode: a full-screen trip view that opens where you left off
- Journeys: group the countries of one trip
- Monthly account totals on the Distribution page
- Export to CSV or HTML
- Fully offline — no ads, no tracking, no cloud
Simple by design. Honest by nature.
What's new in 3.3
Major update: Travel and foreign currency. • Trips in any of 92 currencies, with a suggested exchange rate. Enter what you pay; see it in your home currency too, in whole numbers. • Travel mode (menu → Travel mode): a full screen for your trip that opens where you left off. • Journeys group a multi-country trip; a trip can also stay in its own currency. Also: full backup keeps trip currencies and rates; updating from 2.x no longer erases data.
